- Go to your Yahoo Mail inbox and click "Options" (top left).
- Select the "General" settings on the left, and scroll down until you see "Sending Messages".
- Yahoo keeps copies of all emails you send in the "Sent" folder: to disable that functionality, uncheck the "Save a copy of the message in the Sent folder" checkbox.
Tip: it only applies to messages sent from a web browser. If you also use an email program with Yahoo, messages you send from it will be (by default) in that program's Sent folder.
- To disable the "sent" confirmation screen you get after an email was successfully dispatched, select "Don't show a confirmation page" from the Confirmation page dropdown (the default is "Show after every email sent"). Choose "Show only when sending to new recipients" to get the opportunity to add recipients to your contacts list.
- If you check "Automatically add new recipients to Contacts", Yahoo will create an entry in your address book whenever you email someone for the first time: this may be useful to an account you use for business, it will be overkill for most other cases.
Note: manually add contacts from an email by clicking on the "+" sign next to their name:
- When done, close the Options tab or select another settings group to save your changes.
