Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7

With "Windows Anytime Upgrade", Microsoft lets you enter a serial key from a CD/DVD or buy online a better edition of Windows 7 (unless you already have Windows 7 Ultimate or Enterprise, which is the "top" version). Here's the breakdown and possible upgrade paths:
Starter > Home Basic > Home Premium > Professional > Ultimate / Enterprise
Tip: type "winver" in the start menu and hit Enter to get your Windows version + edition.
Type "upgrade" in the start menu and select "Windows Anytime Upgrade".
If you already have a serial number, click "Enter an upgrade key" and follow the prompts.
Otherwise, click on the "Go online to choose the edition of Windows 7..." button.

Click on the appropriate "Buy" button and continue with billing info and checkout.
Once you've purchased and entered your new version's serial number, the upgrade starts (and requires multiple reboots). On your next logon, you'll be using your new Windows 7 edition!
