• Type a hyphen ("-") and press the spacebar: Word automatically creates an unordered list using a hyphen as bullet symbol for the rest of the list.
• Type an asterisk ("*") and press the spacebar to use the standard round bullets.
• Type a number followed by a separator like a hyphen, period, or closed parenthesis and press the spacebar, and Word automatically starts a numbering list using your number as starting point (you don't have to start your list at "1", in other words).
Tip: hit Enter twice to end the bullet / number list and return to paragraph mode.
