- Unlike many programs (in or out of Microsoft Office), OneNote is the kind of application you can figure out by yourself in an afternoon. But this simplicity is only apparent: especially with the new features in OneNote 2010, the program will grow with you, no need to look elsewhere!
- First introduced in Office 2003 *, OneNote has since become part of Office (available as a standalone product, and as part of Office 2010 "Home and Student", "Home and Business", and the "Professional" edition) - in other words: if you have Office 2010, you have OneNote!

- Since OneNote 2010 was a "minor upgrade", most of our tutorials will also work in OneNote 2007!
- OneNote 2010 is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP - and will work on Windows 8. It's system requirements are the same as Office 2010 editions. By syncing your notebooks and using the OneNote web app (see below), you'll be able to view and edit them online, from anywhere!
- You can download a free, 60-day, fully functional trial of OneNote 2010 from Microsoft.com for your Windows PC

The 60 days countdown will start when you first launch an Office application, and register your copy online (you get a serial number when downloading). - If you have a Windows Live ID, you can open and create notebooks right from your browser, using the "Web App" version of OneNote (if needed, sign up for a free Hotmail account). Just go to skydrive.live.com, and you'll see all online Office documents you've created so far; just click on their name to edit them in your browser - or click "Open in OneNote" (right side of ribbon).

- To-do list functionality is integrated "out of the box", with many tags to categorize your tasks.
