Caution: while removing books from Kindle retains annotations and highlights in the Amazon cloud, uninstalling apps can permanently erase your saved data (player scores, profiles…)
- Start by exiting the application, and find it in the carousel or in your Apps library.
- If it's not on the home screen, tap on Apps: on the next screen, confirm that "Device" is selected to only show currently installed applications. They are sorted by Title or Recent [usage].
- Tap and hold on it (the equivalent of a right-click), and choose "Remove from Device" from the menu. In the "Uninstall application?" confirmation screen that loads next, hit OK (bottom left).
- There's yet a third way to delete an app from your Kindle: tap on "Settings" ( icon in the top right corner), and choose the "More" plus sign on the right ( icon).
- Select "Applications" in the next screen, and you can then filter by Running Applications, Third-party Applications, or All Applications. Scroll to find the app and tap on it.
- This gives you all kinds of information about the program, including how large it is, how much data it has stored, etc. This can help you decide which apps to delete to save storage space, for example. Tap on its Uninstall button to completely remove it from your device.
Note: since Amazon knows which apps you purchased, you can re-download them later, and at no cost. But your data won't be restored unless that app stores it in an online database.
Caution: although you can regain some space by tapping on the corresponding "Clear Data" or "Clear Cache" buttons, we don't recommend it, unless you know from good source what the impact will be on the app. If needed, contact the application's developer.
