- Go to Gmail.com : if you end up in an inbox, click on that person's email address (top right), and select "Sign out" from the dropdown. Either way, you'll now see a blank login form:
- Type your email address in the Username field; unless it ends in "@googlemail.com", you don't have to type the "@gmail.com" part - Google automatically assumes it.
- Then type your case-sensitive Password. If you don't want Gmail to remember your information on that computer and web browser, hit Enter (Windows, Linux) / Return (Mac) to login.
- Check the "Stay signed in" checkbox, and Gmail creates a cookie for this web browser, and automatically log into your inbox next time you type gmail.com or accesses it from a bookmark.
- Click on the "Sign in" button when you are done.
- Got the "The username or password you entered is incorrect" error message? Carefully retype your username and password. Your credentials are now centralized throughout Google properties: changing your YouTube or Google Search password also affects your Gmail account.
Tip: if you get a "captcha" confirmation, too many people (or you, too many times) probably tried to sign in to your account; this unfortunately happens with common usernames.
- Click "Can't access your account?" at the bottom to reset your password, typically using an alternate email address you provided at sign up, or a cell phone number / security question.
