- Changing Gmail password will affect your entire Google account and services (AdSense, AdWords, Google+, Google Reader, your Search profile login, YouTube, etc.)
Security Tips:
⇒ If at all possible, don't change your password from a public place (school, work, library...)
⇒ Never change password on a public Wi-Fi signal, even if encrypted.
⇒ If your browser "remembers" your Gmail credentials, update them: trying to login to your account multiple times with the wrong username / password could lock your account. - Login to Gmail using your current password.
- Click on your email address (top right), and select "Account Settings".
- A new browser window / tab will open: click on "Change password".
- Enter your current password once more: this is to verify your identity. If you prefer, you can choose to answer the secret question (unlike password, the answer you type will be visible).
- Enter a "New password", and "Confirm" it to avoid typos. The password strength indicator helps as you type: safest passwords include combinations of upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols (remember capitalization: your password is "case-sensitive"!)
- Click "Save": your new password takes effect immediately. Remember that the change affects all services that use your Google account / profile for authentication.
