- From your Yahoo Mail inbox, click on the "Contacts" tab.
- Click on the "Actions" dropdown and select "Export All".
- Pick from one of the five options: except for the last two, they're all some variations of CSV ("Comma-Separated Values") optimized to be compatible with various programs. • "Microsoft Outlook" generates a
CSVfile including all the fields (blank or not) Outlook will need - will work fine for Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, and Outlook 2003.
• "Netscape Thunderbird" -CSVfile for Thunderbird, SeaMonkey Mail, or Netscape Mail.
• "Yahoo! CSV" - use this option to export contacts from one Yahoo Mail account to another.
• "vCard Single File" will lump all your contacts into a singleVCFfile.
• "vCard, Zip of.VCFfiles" will generate one "vCard" file per contact, and export a single zip download containing them all.Tip: in doubt, use the Microsoft Outlook format: as one of the most popular email program, its CSV format will likely work for all webmail providers and/or desktop email clients.
- Click on the corresponding "Export Now" button; enter the confirmation code and hit Enter.
Tip: depending on your browser settings, the download will fail. If you get the "This content cannot be displayed in a frame" error message, click on "Open this content in a new window".
- Save the exported file to your desktop: keep it there if you just wanted to backup your contacts; otherwise, use it to import your Yahoo contacts into another address book / email service.
