- Yahoo Mail's language depends on the version of the service with which you signed up (and/or the localized domain of your account - it will be in French for
@yahoo.fremail addresses, for example). This is a Yahoo-wide setting, reflected in any site where you login with your Yahoo ID. - To change the language associated with your account, start by logging into your email account (or another Yahoo site). Click on your username (top right) and choose "Account Info":
Tip: that page will open in a new window, so make sure that your popup blocker allows popups from Yahoo. (In IE, temporarily override it by holding Ctrl and Alt while clicking the link.)
- Enter your password (a security measure to prevent unauthorized access to your profile).
- Scroll down to Account Settings (section before last) and click on "Set language, site, time zone".
- Click on one of the 68 languages (including regional dialects) currently supported by Yahoo under "Language Preferences" (tip: type a letter to quickly scroll to it). Then, click on the right arrow:
- Your choice has been moved to the right, and at the top: this lets you quickly switch between your languages with the up/down arrow buttons. Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
- Re-enter your password if prompted to, and the Settings page will reload in your new language - close that window, and refresh your inbox to reflect the change (hit F5 on Windows / Linux, or Command+R on Mac OS X). The update automatically affects all Yahoo properties.
