- There are four ways to create new contacts in Yahoo Mail: the first is to import them from a text file - address book files exported from another webmail provider or desktop email program.
- The easiest approach is to add a contact from an email you've received from someone: when the email is loaded, click on the "+" plus sign button next to their name:
- The same can be done by right-clicking on a message from that person and choosing "Add Sender to Contacts" (or hit the "Shift+A" keyboard shortcut when the email is currently selected).
- A popup opens with the sender's name and email address: optionally supply more information, like a Yahoo Messenger ID or phone number. Click on the plus signs for more fields, and click Save:
Tip: each of the dropdown menus contain many more types of fields, like third-party IM clients.
- When you get the "Contact has been added" confirmation, click Done to return to your inbox.
- To directly create a new contact in your Yahoo address book, click on the "Contacts" tab:
- Click on "New Contact" above the contact list; you can add the contact once you've entered at least one piece of information, like a name. Fill out as much data as you want, and click on Save.
- To edit an existing contact, click on that person's profile in the listing and click "Edit Details":
- To delete a contact from your address book, select it, click Delete, and confirm the removal.
