Show or hide the Navigation Pane with the mouse by clicking its button in the Ribbon's "View" tab. ("Favorites", checked by default, is only visible when "Mail" is selected, and determines whether Outlook should show your favorite folders above the entire listing or not.)Tip: click on the "Font" button to change the Navigation Pane's font family / text size, e.g. for email folders. Use the "Reset" button to restore default buttons and font settings.

Tip: selecting "Reading View" (buttons in bottom right corner, in the status bar) automatically hides the Navigation Pane: it will be restored when you switch back to "Normal View". Finally: you can't move the Navigation Pane to the right (where to-do bar is).
